Advent is upon us!
And just like good ol' St. Nick, most of us have long lists we'll be trying to take care of over the next few weeks.
Gift shopping, tree cutting, and school programs (not to mention the looming spectre of the annual ugly Christmas sweater party) all vie for our attention.
And of course, amidst all the hustle and bustle, we're also trying to prepare our hearts for the birth of Christ.
It's a pretty busy season.
But all that activity is nothing - nothing - compared to how busy God was, as He prepared for the very first Christmas.
Because believe it or not, His preparations began the moment He proclaimed, "Let there be light."
And how the creation story directly connects to Christmas is the subject of today's Sainthood Snippet.
That said, I probably shouldn't even call it a "snippet."
It's longer than usual, because I wanted to take the time to fully explain how the creation story in Genesis and the unfolding of salvation history in the Old Testament sheds beautiful light on Advent and the birth of Christ.
In fact, you could say that Advent and Christmas are a microcosm of the entire history of the world.
So I invite you to take a few minutes before all the activity begins and watch today's video.
It just might help you put this whole busy season into a more beautiful perspective and help you long for Christ's arrival even more.
May your Advent be a grace-filled time of preparation for the joy of Christmas! God bless!
Matthew
