"I know I'm headed to purgatory anyway, so why worry too much about venial sins?"
We're just a couple weeks away from All Souls' Day, a feast day that reminds us to offer prayers and indulgences for the souls in purgatory.
But for many people, this is the only time of year they think about the poor souls.
And that's a problem.
Because not only do the faithful departed need our prayers every day of the year - we should be doing everything we possibly can to avoid joining them!
Yes, the opportunity to cleanse our souls in purgatory is a great mercy God gives us.
But it's not a fun place to be.
Believe me, everyone in purgatory right now is kicking themselves for thinking that their venial sins weren't a big deal!
While venial sins don't cut us off from God's grace completely like mortal sins, they do have some very dangerous effects on our souls.
So in today's Sainthood Snippet, I explain how venial sin affects our spiritual life - and why it's something we want to work on avoiding at all costs.
